Photo shows severe concrete spalling and corrosion of steel reinforcement bars at half -joints where the bridge superstructure is supported by the pier. All of the bridge piers and half-joints have been marked for remedial measures and repair which will require lengthy lane closures .Iain Masterton/Alamy live News
